“Pins, Pride, and a Little Coffee: Senior Bowling is Back”

“Pins, Pride, and a Little Coffee: Senior Bowling is Back”

The LBA Tuesday Seniors League

Well folks, polish up those bowling shoes and dust off that lucky ball you swear “still hooks like it used to,” because the senior bowling season is about to get rolling at Tiki Lanes. The meetings are wrapped up, the coffee has been brewed, and now it’s time for the real fun—knocking down pins and maybe a little bit of pride along the way.

First up, we’ve got the LBA Tuesday Seniors League, kicking off Tuesday, September 2 at 1 p.m. This is an unsanctioned singles league for bowlers 55 and up. That means no fancy paperwork, no rulebook lawyers, just pure bowling fun. And because it’s handicapped, everyone gets to play on even ground. So, if you’re worried about that guy who swears he used to average 220 “back in ‘84,” don’t sweat it—you’ll still have a fighting chance to beat him head-to-head.

It’s competitive, it’s social, and most importantly, it’s a blast. Plus, we’re always looking for new bowlers who want to have fun and see just how much gas they’ve still got left in the tank.

The Olivedale Seniors League

Next, we roll into the Olivedale Seniors League, starting Thursday, September 4. This one’s a four-person handicap league, also for ages 55 and over. The only catch? You’ve got to be a member of the Olivedale Senior Center in Lancaster. But don’t panic—membership is only $25 a year, which is about what most of us spend on coffee in a week.

This league is also unsanctioned, which means it’s all about fun, camaraderie, and maybe a little good-natured ribbing when someone leaves a 7–10 split. A couple of spots are still open, so grab three friends—or three strangers who look like they can keep score—and join in.

The Mixed Trio League

And last but not least, on Monday, September 8 at 1 p.m., we’ve got the Mixed Trio League. Handicap, non-sanctioned, and guaranteed to bring some laughs. We’ve got room for a few more bowlers, maybe even a whole team, so if you’ve been sitting on the fence, here’s your chance to jump in. Don’t wait too long, though—those open spots go faster than a bowling ball down the wrong lane.

League Details and Contact Info

Now, let’s talk about the money part (because I know somebody out there is already thinking about it). Both the Monday and Tuesday leagues are just $12 a week. That’s cheaper than lunch at most places these days, and way more fun.

So, here’s the deal: if you’re 55 or older and you still get that little thrill when you hear the crash of pins, don’t miss out.

Whether you’re a seasoned bowler or someone just looking for a great way to spend an afternoon, we’ve got a place for you.

And don’t forget to check out our article “Bowl Into Better Health for Seniors.” Bowling isn’t just fun—it’s great for staying active, keeping joints moving, and even boosting social connections. Think of it as exercise with laughter and a scorecard.

For more details, call Tiki Lanes at 740-654-4513 or check out their website. Trust me—you’ll want to get in on the action before the only spot left is the one keeping score.

Coach’s Tips of the Week

“When your ball ends up in the gutter, don’t blame the lane. Blame gravity. It’s been pulling us seniors down for years—it’s about time it got your bowling ball too!”

“Most important rule of bowling: have fun. Because at the end of the day, strikes fade, spares get forgotten, but stories about who fell off the approach live forever.”
